The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced that the newly elected state executives and other party officers will not assume office until the mandate of the current leadership expires.
The formal inauguration of the new executives is scheduled for May 12, 2026, or a later date, which will be officially communicated by the party. Party spokesman Bolaji Abdullahi clarified this position in a statement.
The ADC emphasized that the tenure of all newly elected executives will not begin until the current executives' terms conclude and they are formally inaugurated on the communicated date. Therefore, the existing executives remain the duly recognised officers of the Party until the constitutional transition process is complete.
New executives, particularly at the state level, are strictly advised to refrain from any actions, representations, or conduct that could contravene this clear constitutional directive or create confusion within the Party structure.
Mr. Abdullahi stressed the ADC's commitment to orderliness, discipline, and strict adherence to its constitution and democratic processes.
